2010 Major League Lacrosse Season Starts Out With A Bang
The 2010 Major League Lacrosse season began on Saturday at Harvard Stadium in front of 9,841 fans. The Boston Cannons took on the Denver Outlaws in the first of three games over the weekend. The Cannons took the first game of the season 16-13 over the Outlaws.
The Cannons were playing without Paul Rabil who was playing in the National Lacrosse League Championship (Rabil’s Washington Stealth beat the Toronto Rock 15-11). Matt Poskay picked up the slack for the Cannons with four goals and one assist winning the Bud Light MVP.

In the second game, the Chesapeake Bayhawks took down the Long Island Lizards 16-8. The Bayhawks were led by Peet Poillon who scored five goals and had two assists in the game, earning the Bud Light MVP honors. The game was the first for the Bayhawks as the ‘Chesapeake Bayhawks’ as they defeated the Lizards in front of 4,800 fans in Annapolis, Maryland.

In the final game of the weekend, the Chicago Machine took on the Toronto Nationals. At the end of last season, it was the Nationals who finished the season as champs and the Machine who finished as the league’s worst. Matt Striebel and the Machine beat up on the Nationals though for a 16-9 victory. Striebel scored two goals in the game to earn the Bud Light MVP award.
